Where to Find Your AutoCAD Civil 3D Product Information

A recent comment on a prior post asked how to find out if, after performing an update to your AutoCAD Civil 3D software, the program was updated. In essence, where to find your AutoCAD Civil 3D product information?

This question raises an important point about knowing what version, or service pack, your AutoCAD Civil 3D software has been updated to. You can also learn about other pertinent information, such as your license type and other information, which is listed at the bottom of this post.

To find your AutoCAD Civil 3D product Information do the following:

  1. Open your AutoCAD Civil 3D software. I hate obvious directions like this, but better off safe than sorry.
  2. Open the “HELP” menu and at the bottom select the “ABOUT AUTOCAD CIVIL 3D” menu option.
  3. This will open a screen and in the upper right hand corner of this screen select the link entitled “PRODUCT INFORMATION“.

The screen that opens displays the following information about your AutoCAD Civil 3D software:

  • Product Name
  • Product Service Pack
  • License Type
  • License Behavior
  • License ID
  • Product Version
  • Product Serial Number
  • License Expiration Date
  • License Usage Type
  • Computer Host Name

I recommend taking a screen shot to print out, or save, this information, from time to time. This is excellent backup data to go along with all the other important business and surveying data you keep as professional land surveyor.

These information is useful. We install the updates regular but never cared about checking which updates is latest? We go to updates when there is fatal error in drawing etc. But always “Prevention is better than cure”

Thanks Eric I will tell my IT guy to check for these updates on regular basis

    Cheers

    Doesn’t work for Civil 3D 2010.
Must be one of the major improvements.

Who knows any logical reason why this universal way to check software version should be changed?

    Ed,

This one took me a little to figure out myself. The help menu to get to the “ABOUT AUTOCAD CIVIL 3D” and then the “PRODUCT INFORMATION“ is now found in the InfoCenter tools. This is found at the very upper right hand portion of the C3D 2010 screen. There’s a search box followed by binocular image, key image, satellite dish sort of image, a star image and then a question mark image.

Next to the question mark (help) image is a downward pointing arrow.
Select that and a drop-down menu opens. At the bottom of that is the “ABOUT AUTOCAD CIVIL 3D” option.

    Phew!
