10 - Getting up at 4:45 am after working until midnight is not as fun as you might think.
9 - Working for 12 hours on 3 different projects, both in the office and in the field, while making great progress on all three projects, still sucks when at the end of the day not one of them is totally done.
8 - Working next to a homeless shelter sure makes you appreciate all the blessings you have in your life, but at the end of the day it's still so sad that we don't take care of our own as well as we could.
7 - AutoCAD Civil 3D; while I think that it is a great piece of software for much of what it can do, it is still pretty lacking in many day to day basic functions resulting in it sometimes being more of a burden than a productivity tool.
6 - Mud. Slippery, deep in spots, and almost kept me from getting home for dinner (see No. 1 and thank you 4 wheel drive).
5 - Deer Flies. Oh my, what a year it has been for these little buggers!
4 - New England stone filled soil. You'd think that with the thousands and thousands of miles of stone walls built in New England, that there wouldn't be any left in the ground, but you'd be wrong. At least there seemed to be a stone in the ground at each spot that I needed to set a stake today.
3 - Drivers: Fast, texting, and careless. Even with a Flagger and a Police Officer, going into a roadway to work you're putting your life at risk. For the love of all that is just and good, please slow down in construction areas and stop texting while driving.
2 - I haven't been stung while working in the woods for a few years now (yea!) and yet, I was stung today while working in the city and walking down a city street. Nice.
1 - I just loved the violent thunderstorm with torrential downpours at 11:30 in the morning when the professional weather guessers forecast a dry day with storms atfter 9:00 pm. The sky, however, was awesome (see the attached picture).
It really was a good day, just long with a few challenges, but I'm looking forward to a good nights sleep and to tomorrow, too!
