Professional Land Surveyor from EricColburn.com is now also on Google Plus!

Google recently allowed businesses and brands to create brands on Google+, which “aims to make sharing on the web more like sharing in real life”.

With Google+, a nice alternative to Facebook, we at EricColburn.com, the Professional Land Surveyor Source, look forward to exploring Pages on Google Plus for:

  • Sharing breaking news, updates, promotions, links, photos.
  • Talking face-to-face with groups via easy-to-use video chat.
  • Building deeper relationships.
I look forward to connecting and sharing with you on the new Professional Land Surveyor Google+ Page.

Google Plus Invites from the Professional Land Surveyor Source

Last week I wrote about Exploring Google Plus for Business and Networking. In that post I wrote:

You very well may have heard of the new Social Networking platform from Google lighting up the interwebs, called Google Plus (aka Google+). If you have not yet heard of Google Plus, you no doubt will soon.

Google Plus is an uncluttered answer to Facebook featuring innovations, such as Circles, Sparks, Hangouts and Huddles. Google Plus is now in beta release and you currently need an invite (along with a Google Profile) in order to join. I was lucky that an old uber-techno-early-adopter friend sent me an invite to Google Plus.

Hearing about Google+ is one thing, but getting on to Google+ is another thing altogether – Because it’s only by invite at this point in time.

So far, I’ve been able to connect with other Professional Land Surveyors and AutoCAD people on Google Plus and I’d like to be able to connect with you, too, on Google Plus.

I am pleased to announce that, as the owner of the Professional Land Surveyor LinkedIn Group, I have switched this professional networking group to an open discussion group.

All future discussions will be fully visible, searchable, and shareable on the Web. All past discussions are now closed in a members-only archive.

Please keep in mind that I still will have full control over the quality of contributions and membership. As such, my intention is to keep much as it is, in that, membership must be requested and only members can comment.

I look forward to our future LinkedIn group discussions now joining the broader conversation of the wider Web.

Professional Land Surveyor Survey-What is Your Favorite Social Networking Site?

April 29, 2010 in Associate Membership, Business, Land Surveying, Professional Land Surveyor Practice, Surveys

PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYOR SURVEY

PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYOR SURVEY

In this week’s PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYOR SURVEY I’m asking the question:

What is Your Favorite Social Networking Site?

In the last two or more years I’ve seen more and more professional land surveyors, engineers, AutoCAD users, and designers using social networking sites like Facebook, Land Surveyors United, Linkedin, MySpace, Twitter, and Tumblr. These are just a few of the more popular social networking sites on the interwebs nowadays. While I don’t know which ones will still be around in another year or two, which is equal to eons in “Internet-Years”, but I do know this:

Social networking is here to stay, so join the revolution or get left behind!

If you or your professional land surveying business haven’t implemented social media and social networking to boost your marketing, brand, and branding efforts, then I suggest you start to do so immediately. If you haven’t already done so, then you’re missing out on an opportunity to improve your business, brand, “awareness”, and build relationships with your customers (existing and new). After you take this week’s Professional Land Surveying Survey about your favorite social networking sites, you’ll find a list I’ve created with my links on these social networks so that we can connect. Contact me if you are new to social networking and are interested in working with me to use social media marketing in your business.

Dig Your Well Before You’re Thirsty : The Only Networking Book You’ll Ever Need

August 22, 2008 in 4 RODS, Associate Membership, Book Reviews, Business, Land Surveying

Dig Your Well Before You’re Thirsty by Harvey Mackay is a great book for everyone, with valuable networking information you can use in your personal and business life.

In these difficult economic times, having the right contacts in the right place when you need them, will make the difference between survival and failure. As the title states, ideally you would want your network in place before you may ever need them; but there is no time like the present to begin your networking well.

I rate this book 4 RODS out of a total possible 4 RODS.
