AutoCAD Civil 3D 911: How can I change Parcel Line Labels in AutoCAD Civil 3D?

Sue wanted to know how to change Parcel Line Labels in a Civil 3D drawing that had multiple parcels with lots of Parcel Line Labels that she wanted to change. What she is now doing, is to delete the existing labels and then adding new labels to the lines, which is a bit tedious.

Marketing your land surveying business and services is not something you can ignore, anymore. Talk to most land surveying business owners at the height of the real estate bubble and you’d likely discover very little, if any, marketing and customer outreach on their part. Jump ahead a year or two into the height of the Great Recession, and you’d often hear those same land surveyors complain about dwindling business and the lack of new clients or new projects. Then, almost as an afterthought, these business owners “discovered” marketing and hoped that it would be the great white hope to save their businesses. What they discovered, however, is that they waited too long and did too little, too late.

AutoCAD Civil 3D 911: How can I edit multiple points at one time in AutoCAD Civil 3D?

Dan had inserted a point file in AutoCAD Civil 3D with point descriptions not setup correctly for his company’s current point naming standards. Because of this, his company’s Civil 3D drawing templates and setup of their Description Key File, Point Styles, Point Label Styles and Point Groups. He tried manually editing the point descriptions but found the process slow, subject to input error and frustrating.

Luckily, there is a way to edit multiple points all at once in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Watch the video and learn more.

The Challenge

You’re surveying record parcel 2 in the Parkhurst Plat. Record parcel 2 is shown on the plat as being 100 feet wide by 100 feet deep. The northerly boundary of the Parkhurst Plat adjoins the Brownell Plat to the north. The endpoints of the shared common boundary between the two record plats are shown on both plats as being marked by stone bounds.

You find and survey the locations of several record monuments that are called for on both record plats. Specifically, along the common boundary between the two record plats, you find one stone bound near the easterly end of the line at Maple Street, but there are two stone bounds near the westerly end of the line (southeast corner Brownell Plat and northeast corner Parkhurst Plat).

You discover that the two record plats overlap and that the two stone bounds (1.5′ apart) near the westerly end of the common boundary line, each represent a platted corner as shown on the individual record plats.

The overlap in the area of Parkhurst Plat record parcel 2 is approximately 1.5 feet. Where do you set the two rear corners?

AutoCAD Civil 3D 911: Eric, how can I easily enter curve geometry from a record plat in AutoCAD Civil 3D?

Steve is a land surveyor who needs to regularly enter record plat geometry into AutoCAD Civil 3D. When trying to draw curves in the drawing to represent the record geometry, Steve was struggling with how to efficiently complete this task.
