HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Well, it's that time of year when we re-focus our thoughts and plan for the new year ahead. Now I'm not one of those people who need to, or limits myself to, only examining my goals at New Years: While I will look at the year past, and where I would like to be heading in the upcoming year, this will not be the only time throughout the year that I review, create and update my goals.
SET GOALS AND REAP THE BENEFITS!
It is well documented that you can improve your personal and business life with self evaluation and goal setting. Write them down, and you will do even better! Success, whether in your personal life or in your professional land surveying business, doesn't just happen. It takes a lot of dedicated work, family support, a great network of business contacts, a vision, a little bit of luck, and goals to obtain the success you desire. Make your goals your road map to success!
IGNORE THE NAYSAYERS!
And, don't let the naysayers (even yourself) shoot you down. Setting goals is important if for no other reason than the process. Taking time to think about your life and running your professional land surveying business is as an important endeavor as any other, if not more so. As a matter of fact, this is one goal that I've set for myself in the past that I will set the bar even higher for this year, as I think this is a very important. This year, I will schedule this "Thinking Time" into my week as a regular task ensuring that I meet this goal.
Finally, the higher you set your goals the better you will do. Just create a working plan with defined steps you will take to obtain your goals and give consistent effort towards meeting or exceeding them.
