Professional Land Surveyor Survey-What is the Best Surveying Software for Professional Land Surveyors?
In this Professional Land Surveyor Survey, I’m asking:
What is the Best Surveying Software for Professional Land Surveyors?
Recently, at the Professional Land Surveyor LinkedIn Group I asked this very question, which received 18 comments from land surveyors revealing their ideas on what’s the best surveying software for professional land surveyors.
From their comments, I put together this list of surveying and surveying related software products to choose from.
Take the Professional Land Surveyor Survey:

One response to “Professional Land Surveyor Survey-What is the Best Surveying Software for Professional Land Surveyors?”
Eric,
Just a thought. How about if the software list was divided into three categories:
1.) Field Data Collection
2.) Data Reduction and Analysis
3.) Drafting and Platting?
Also, I believe that there were some typos in the original contributions that carried over into the above list (most notable HP 48 with (should read TDS, not TSD) or SMI software. The InCAD product should be listed as MicroSurey InCAD as it is a plug-in to Autodesk rather than the comparable standalone MicroSurvey CAD.
As revered as the HP48 is in Land Surveying and Engineering, it is a piece of hardware and perhaps could be included in a future poll on hardware devices beiing used. As you most likely know, TDS and SMI make field data collection software for several different hardware devices.
Good job on the poll, sorry to be a fly in the ointment but at the very least I wanted to see TDS get its due.
For the record, I learned terrestrial field data collection on an HP48 with TDS and SMI cards. Learn a few buttons, focus on the survey itself (novel idea), get the project done. There are days when I think that the software manufacturing sector is out of control and losing touch. JMHO.
