Hi-tech surveying equipment is to brought in to help assess the threat of land slips at Waihi Village at Lake Taupo.
Radio New Zealand News reports that GPS Surveying Equipment to Help Assess the threat of Land Slips at Waihi Village at Lake Taupo and Fifty residents were displaced for two nights, forced to evacuate their homes, due to increased seismic and geothermal activity in the area.
They go on to report that:
“Local Civil Defense controller Shamus Howard told Morning Report that scientists will put GPS surveying equipment into the area on Wednesday morning. He said a helicopter will be used because the area in the upper catchment is not suitable for walking around on.”
