Brass Surveying Theodolite 8″
3:36 pm in General, Land Surveying by Eric Colburn
This reproduction 8″ brass surveying Theodolite is similar to those used in the mapping of the National Parks of America. This beautiful display piece measures approximately 8″ tall when the telescope is parallel to the ground.
Surveyors would align the compass and use this item to measure both vertical and horizontal angles for extremely accurate measurements while developing their topographical maps. The telegraphic sights equipped on the alidade would allow the surveyor a truer line with more precise dimensions then the previous models of this type.
This piece will make a great addition to any collection and would make a great Fathers Day of Mothers Day gift, too.
